On the Way Home from Church

Once again, I am glad I bring my camera with me where ever I go. I had heard earlier in the day that four brush fires were burning in my county, not sure where. Well, on the way of my DH showing me an unusual sight he was looking for me to explain ( I coudn't give him any answers), we heard the chop-chop-chop of a helicopter. Looking up we saw a bright orange bucket hanging from it. Lo! That which we only see on TV - choppers dropping to ponds and lakes to get much needed water before racing away to fight the good fight - was happening in our own back yard. So-to-speak.

What an amazing sight. I can only hope that no homes are in the paths of these fires. There is a high fire hazard threat in our area and I suppose we all should be grateful none of this happened two days ago when high winds were howling through the valley.

When unusual things happen, people stop to gawk and look. Here was no exception and unfortunately, there are repercussions. And concussions.

No more than 15-20 minutes passed before we turned around and headed back to get our Chinese food for supper. And look what we came back to.

The Mod Squad - Blast from my past

Oh I am So having fun.

Remember The MOD SQUAD?

I have that as one of my most favorite memories of TV when I was younger.

You know that old saying, "You can't go back."?
They were right.
One thing that hasn't changed is the music.
The music is awesome!

I never realized how suspensefully romantic the intro is. Think of all the latest romance books that have the heroine running from the bad guy along with the hero(es) and his sidekick(s).

How the heroes, being male, still have a tendency to protect the female, even when she's capable of doing - if not the same job as they, then darned close to it - the same level of survivability (read kick-A$$)required to get the job done.

Check out the Intro to the MOD SQUAD - the music gets you movin' and groovin'. Sort of makes me want to run too. **gg**

If you have high speed ( I like saying that) then please check out this YouTube link. It's a scene from the Mod Squad.

What you see in this clip could NEVER be done now. Personally, I was rooting for the good guys but nowadays, the good guys hands are tied. At least, that's how I feel.
Another thing is ... the one-time manly hero of my young heart has the voice of a .... gentle geek. He can throw a good punch, sure - but when he talks?

Ouch. That's what I meant by my not being able to go back.
I think my tastes have changed.
LOL
Another thing I think is funny is these cops drive a woody with the requisite surf boards on top. That is just too cute!
On an aside... you know that pic of Michael Cole?
I have a blog buddy whose blog has been neglected because he's doing some amazing things in his life.
But when I first got a comment from him years ago? My heart almost stopped. You see, his blog icon was his picture.
My very first impression was that I was looking at a matured Michael Cole when in fact it was non other than Judson Knight, husband of the wonderful author, Deidre Knight, of the Parrallel series.
And Judson's voice is the voice that should have been on The Mod Squad.
How do I know?
He made it onto Jeopardy last year and I got to see the episode on TV.
Isn't life interesting?

My Moon Shot and playing around

Squeee~~! I can now view YouTube videos! I am addicted for the evening!

Greg Evigan was SUCH a cutie!

The Intro to that cool yet silly sci-fi show, UFO?

I had the major hots for Commander Staker. Of course, Lt. Foster got a few pants from me too.

And Saturday AM fun with THIS? - The ultimate in camp. Tee HEE

Remember those Sabin Women? Musicals are my favorite.

Yep, I'm having fun but I can't post too many pictures of my vacation.

Seems my HP program no longer functions like it used to so now I"m stuck wasting time experimenting and trying to get around it.

Nothing ever goes the way you think it should.

Oh well.

More later!

Oh Wait! It's the SPONGE ORGY! lolol

Today is the day

I'm back and I'm excited!
In ONE hour, Mr. Internet is going to come and rock my world.

Be that as it may,
I'm back from my vacation and have I got tales to tell and pictures to share.
But, I'm not loading any until after I have the high speed installed. Mostly because I can then do it in seconds instead of the minutes I usually have to wait.

I can say that the weather was gorgeous and we saw things that we've never ever seen before. We've been going to Cape Cod for twenty years and have not ever seen what we saw this time around.

We saw a deer, an American Goldfinch, a dead seagull, a HUGE spider crab, an orgy of sponges, diving gulls, half of a giant hermit crab, and heard the cutest 5 year old girl on the beach saying something about strange rocks. Youngest was finally tall enough to drive his first Go-Kart and he was estatic and youngest and eldest played mini-golf for the first time for real. No more playing 'hockey' , but a bonified mini-golf competition where all our scores were close enough to generate a serious mindset to WIN... I won. tee hee .. and all of us except DH got holes-in-ones.

Oh, I have to share this.
Remember last post when I asked if anyone had read the Buckhorn Brothers by Lori Foster?
Well, I was going to read Gabe and Jordon on vacation, except I left Gabe at home and only had Jordon. Well, I was SO crushed and I simply HAVE to read them in order, I refused to read Jordon's story. Well, Lo!, I went to a USB and FOUND a double book called Forever and Always that combined both Gabe's and Jordon's stories! Sure, that means I had to pay twice for books I already had, but I got to read them. In Order!

It was worth it because of some of the cute references in Jordon's book talked about Elizabeth and Gabe. THEN, I find out that Casey has his own story! Now, I'm on the hunt for Casey. Just can't seem to get enough of those Buckhorn Brothers. LOL

So, that's the scoop.
Until next post!

Hiatus time once more

**snort**
Like I've been very busy here?
I know - you're right, my blog used to be so lively. I hope to enliven it when I get High Speed because then I can do things I've never done. It will be like playing with Blogger all over again.

OH my Gosh! Today's picture at Whipped Cream's Yahoo group is HAWT!

And it's "caption me" Friday there!

Sign up and take a gander at the scrumptious inspiration. Talk about Hero material! In fact, put YOUR two cents in.
Has anyone read The Buckhorn brothers by Lori Foster? What did you think?

And then ....
There is DUCK

And then there is :

ANOTHER USE FOR DUCT TAPE ...I have to tell you that I have never seen a better use for duct tape. Makes you want to require everyone to carry a roll for emergencies

My Good News

Guess what?
As of next week, I am going to have a High Speed Internet connection!

I am SO so very excited and I can't wait.
No more 20 minute load time for a My Space Page!
No more not being able to see all these YouTube things I 've been hearing about!
No more sitting around waiting for a pic to load so I can share it with you.
No more having restrictions on the size emails I send!
No more having my internet connection severed because I'm online for four hours straight.
No more limiting how many people I can BCC or CC my emails to. Right now, I can only do Five, but I have over 70 People!
No more waiting for a Doppler Rader picture to show bad weather in my area and by the time it loads, the worst has passed OR it got so bad we lost power anyway...which is REALLY inconvenient.

I am SO excited!
Woot!
Yippee!
Kowabunga!

I can't wait to do a YouTube link on my blog here. I can't wait to try uploading a little film clip from my camera. I can't wait until I can do things that took me an hour and have them done in 20 - 30 minutes.

Happy Happy Joy Joy!

OH, and the picture before of the house on fire?

It turns out it was a controlled burn. Someone donated their old wreck of a house to do this.

The picture you see here was about thirty minutes after the first one. So you can imagine how fast a fire can destroy an entire house.

For everyone who had a stab of concern for the owners based upon the previous post, you can relax. No people/animals or ghosts were harmed in that excercise. LOL

Why Take Your Camera Everywhere?

Why? Because you never know when you are going to come across something unsual or interesting. I should know, it's happened before and it happened yesterday.

Win and Laugh

To everyone who took my poll, Thank you!
I am amazed but I suppose I shouldn't be to see that deer comprised the biggest response of animals seen while driving while MOOSE came before bears. That was surprising. I thought there were more bear than moose, but it seems not.

This new polling feature on Blogger is fun.
:-)

BTW - I'm a little late in mentioning this to my romance reader readers out there. Did that make sense?

Did you hear about the April contest at LASR?

If not, check this out:

During April, we are giving away a book every day. Most will be print romances in various genres, and there may be the occasional eBook. Either way, you'll be getting some great books to add to your keeper shelf.
********************
Contest Rules:
To enter, leave a comment on the book you want to win -- but you only have ONE DAY in which to enter for each drawing...the day it is reviewed. The drawing for each book will be held the morning after the review posts, so make sure you get your entry in on the correct day. The books available for giveaway will be marked with a yellow chick. For a second chance to win, find the same chick somewhere on our main website and Email us to tell us where he's located.
NOTE:
Print book giveaways are open to US and Canada residents only. eBooks giveaways are open to anyone worldwide.

A couple of books that I reviewed are going to go up as part of the contest too. I hope my reviews inspire entries. I only chose books that either had me laughing or biting my nails in suspense but they ALL have HEA's.
Romance isn't romance without one.
IMHO
*********************************************************
Again, for those that have NO interest in winning and reading romance books, I'll share an email funny that my uncle sent me....

Talking vs. Spanking

Much of America thinks it's improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to help my kids regain control of themselves when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride. Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc. Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

Sincerely,
Your Friend

I Tried a Book Out of My Comfort Zone

Sometimes, reading out of my comfort zone is ... well, uncomfortable. The blurb of the book sounded rather interesting. The Fate of Mercy ...
