Beta Blogger - a quiz or a poll or just being nosy

Whatever you call it, I have a question I'm hoping you can answer.

It's about the new Beta Blogger that I'm constantly hearing about.

Have you switched?

If you have, how has it worked for you?

If you haven't, why not?

I am torn. And I'm feeling pressured.

Have you noticed that when you comment now, that you HAVE to relog in with your Blogger name and password? Seems nothing gets "saved" anymore. What a pain!

I even have to when I answer comments ON MY OWN BLOG!!

I checked my Blogger settings to see if I could get around that, but nothing looks different. I can't seem to make any changes to make it go back to the way it was.

A ploy?
A plot?
A Scheme?

All I know is that I'm irritated by the whole thing.

I subscribe to the Yahoo groups for Blogger people where you can report your problems and others respond who have already gone through it. They help you, sometimes before the "Blogger Geniuses" ever get back to you.

What do I see/hear?

Complaints, Tons of complaints about the Beta version of Blogger.
AND once you switch, you can not go back. Seems to me, they're putting the pressure on for us oldies to switch without ironing all the bugs out first. Seems WE are the testers, and have to put up with the learning curves and bumps along the way until they reach Beta "perfection".

So, I ask again. Have you switched? Is it worth it? What's the big difference?

I've switched, and the only thing that I don't like is the signing in thing. I think it does remember sometimes but you do have to log in much more regularly. On the opposite side of the ledger, I really like the labels. I was disappointed by the choices available in templates given there was so much emphasise on the ease of changing templates. The choices were rubbish!

Marg! Thanks for answering my quesitons. I just need to be clear... do you think the pro's outweigh the con's?
It sounds like the only major disappointment in the templates. The sign in issue already is plaguing me on my "Old" Blogger, so how worse could it be?

What I also notice, is that not all old blogs are doing the sign in thingy like mine. Many are like mine used to be, but I didn't DO anything to get this new and exasperating comment glitch. Since I have it, and it's that way anyway, I may just change. I'm still thinking. But I really, really thank you for taking the time to write in your opinion, Marge. That means a lot.
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Nope, I haven’t switched. Mostly because I’ve just been too busy (or maybe that should be “too lazy”) to bother. Plus I’ve heard about some nasty glitches with the beta version and I really don’t want to deal with new problems right now. I’d rather wait until most of the kinks have been ironed out before switching, otherwise I know I’ll just get mega-frustrated and spend way too much time trying to fix things when I should be writing instead. :-)

As for the relogging in problem, Michele, it’s possible your computer may be dumping some of your Internet cookies pertaining to sign-ins, so you might want to look into that. My computer system does that every so often. Just FYI--I don’t have to relog or enter my password again when I leave a comment here on your blog.

BTW--thanks very much for the link! I’ll get one up for you at my next update. :-D

I'm waiting for those answers too. I've been thinking about changing, but maybe I'll do what Daisy is, wait until the glitches are cleared up.

I haven't switched either. I, too, am waiting to see what the buzz going on about it is. As for the sign in issue, have you checked the tiny little box under the sign in that say's remember me? (I ask because you've probably already done that and I'm a techno goober.) I have noticed that the post page is set so that you have to redirect the page to post *sigh*, that could get annoying. I'll definitely be checking on this post to see what others have to say!

Doesn't matter if you say Remember Me because it still doesn't!

I think that the pros outweigh the cons at this point.

I have't noticed a lot of glitches in beta. What kind of glitches are being talked about?

I haven't switched. I like the old version and have seen someone accidently delete their whole blog with the beta blogger... so stuff that! lol

Why fix something that ain't broke?

Daisy! I found out what the problem was, it was my memorized Window settings. Somehow it reverted to my OLD password. No clue how it happened either.
Thanks for the future link. :-)

Bailey and Brandy - I'm waiting too. And Brandy? My little ol' comment box doesn't give me the option of "remember me". So, no go.

Marg - you inspired a post to answer your question. Thanks.

Emma! Hey there Woman!! How's it going?
And yep, I agree with you. When I investigated a bit more thoroughly to create a post to answer Marg, I came to the same conclusion as you. Old Blogger isn't broken, so I'm NOT going to change. Just reading those quotes scared me.

So yep, Stuff that!! ;-)
