A Good Question needs a good answer

First, since I have no clue how to do a "sticky" and I want the post BEFORE this to be read,
Please READ the post before this- it's a lot more fun.

However, a question was asked by Marg on my previous- previous post - "What kinds of glitches has Beta Blogger having?"

Instead of writing it all down, I thought I'd copy and paste a few for those who are curious.

Are you ready to read???

"I recently switched to blogger beta and I noticed that my archives are all dead links. When I try to replublish my archives all I get is "Google Error: Server error, The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds"

OR

"Having had nothing but problems since migrating to beta blogger and having received no response from Google's apprently indifferent support program "

OR

" My problem with beta at the moment is that when I login and go to add a new entry the only options available to me are spell checker and picture adder. I am unable to change the word formating, add web links, colour or anything else"

OR

"I can't seem to edit, publish, and create new post ever since I've switched to google beta.. everytime I tried, the loading got stucked, nothing was shown in the end. I clicked back and tried over and over again, results same. I can't do ANYTHING to my blog at all now except to play with the basic settings"

OR

"Before Beta, I could only post using Blooger for Word a bit over half the time. Now with Beta Blogger, I can't use Word at all."

OR

"In switching to Beta...I have lost my blog. "

OR

"Many photos are not being displayed since I switched to Beta"

So, there you have it. A "SMALL" insight as to what I've been seeing about Beta Blogger and why I am dragging my feet about switching over.

Did this help you at all????

I haven't had ANY of those problems at all!!

If anything I have found that it has been easier to load photos. I used to occasionally have trouble where photos would look as though they are loading, but then you wouldn't actually get the HTML. I would then go away for a couple of hours and try again! That hasn't happened once since I switched!

Admittedly, I don't try to blog from Word, but everything else works fine.

And I have had great fun with the new labels feature.

I'm on beta too. At first I used a new template complete with the features but I'm using a classic one now :) Even with the classic there's no republishing necessary. And while labels don't show up on the sidebar with a classic template, they do show up under your post. My experience has been similar to Marg's :)

Okay all those complaints are scarey, so I'm sticking with the old for now!

M- I have put so many Internet miles between me an Blogger that they look like a squashed bug on my the rear window of my blog mobile. I don't know what is going on with them, but somewhere in the past year and a half I went from enthusiastic fan to loathing detractor. -gregg

Beta works better for me than the original/classic set-up. My only suggestion would be to try to select a new template (make sure you save your old one with links to friends, etc. before attempting changes) and see if it makes any difference.

Yeesh.
I don't have Blogger, but this switch sounds like a bit of a mess...

I'm glad for you Marg. My concern is that I'd be the one with the glitches. It wouldn't be the first time that odd stuff happens to me. But you give me hope! Thanks. :-)

Thanks Bonnie. How did you grab your old template back? Did you somehow save it before you switched? BTW- your site IS looking good.

Brandy- that's me too, cautious.

Gregg - Hey there! LOL, I know what you mean. In the past 6 months along, I've had so many problems. When I first joined Blogger, it was problem, glitch-free. I have NO idea what they're doing, and sometime it seems like neither do they... I like your new page/site, but it's it a paid type of account?

Kevin! My goodness, I think this is the first time you ever visited ME! Thank you. :-)
Ah! The template question I had for Bonnie, you answered. Again, hearing "GOOD" reviews is uplifting. I wonder, then, what's happened to those other folks - I mean, why did their blogs go all flooky? Guess we'll never know what made the difference for them and why yours, Marg's and Bonnies' work so well. I just glad to have postives to balance the negatives.
Thanks, Kevin.

Raine- So, what DO you have? Is it reliable? Blogger has given all of us enough problems that I have been flirting with change.
Anyway, thanks so much for visiting my blog. I wish my post was a bit more fun though.
TTFN!

BTW - sorry for the numerous typos. Haste makes waste and I'm trying to do this before I get ready for work.
Have a great day, All!

I haven't heard of any complaints but I'll see once I switch. As for stickies, just change the date and make it sometime in the future so it will always stay on top.

Mailyn, I hoped you would pop by because I knew YOU knew the answer. Thanks for sharing and Yes! Please do share your experiences with me about the switch when you switch. Thanks!!!

Michele, I have WordPress. It's pretty reliable, and not much fuss or bother. :-)

Thanks for letting me know, Raine! Seems like WordPress might be compatable with Blogger. As far as comments go anyway. Thanks for the additional food for thought.
Psst. did you check the "link" I left for you? ;-)

Thanks, Michele :) The template I have isn't an old one. Let's say you're on Blogger Beta and you're using a beta template but you want to use a classic one because you like it...

You go to the edit html section on beta and scroll down to the bottom where it says revert to classic template and press that button. Now if you are just wanting to revert to one you saved when you started on beta, you're done. But if you want to use a different classic template simply delete the code of the classic template in there and copy and paste the new code and save. :)

Of course if you put in special additions to your sidebar you would want a copy of your previous template somewhere so you can more easily transfer those codes :)

Oooh, a wealth of information, Bonnie. Thank you! I'm going to have to store this for future reference.
