Warmth - a matter of positive thought

I'm fairly positive that these pics I took do not invoke feelings of warmth.

If you are a winterbunny, then snowmen, snowballs, snowforts, sledding and snow angels are thoughts triggered by these sights.

My facetious and curious question for today:

If you had to cuddle inside an igloo with a few good books to while away the time until said snowstorm ceased to blow, what book would you chose?

Which book have you read that could generate enough warmth as to forget the raging, swirling, and driving wind and snow that battered and buffeted your enclosure? A book that would make you forget the passage of time.

For me, I would choose Everlastin' by Mickee Madden, , Knight of a Trillion Stars by Dara Joy and Incubus Dreams by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Of the 600+ books I've read since November 2004, I admit that choosing only 3 books was very difficult. However, all three kept me turning the pages, had me forgetting about where I was and how much time had truly passed as I was drawn into the author's world.
I can only surmise that an author would find this gratifying.

It's cold out there folks.
Are you game?

books by E. L. Doctorow or Caleb Carr make me forget about the outside world for a while. I also got lost in the world of the Dante Club and Da Vinci Code.

I'm cold just looking at them, but they are beautiful!

Your pictures are beautiful. Are you asking about old favorites or new books we are eager to read?

Hi Gregg! Except for the Davinci Code, I haven't heard about the other authors. I'll think I'll mosey on over to the library and "check them out". :-)
It's good to share the warmth.

Thanks Jill. Sometimes my back yard looks really pretty. This is one of those times.
Thanks for dropping by!

Any Books, Brandy. No qualifiers.
Thanks for the compliment on my pics. Always nice to hear.

Well, I am looking forward to reading "Memory In Death" by J.D. Robb and if I had to pick a favorite that always cheers me up and makes me laugh, it's "Fast Women" by Jennifer Crusie. I love the sense of anticipation of starting a book and then entering the world/mind of the author as they tell a story.

Kewl pix....I love winter, even if the flu rages here! For me, I'd take my Bible, and the two latest Colleen Coble books.

Beautiful pictures, Michele! Now, what would I be reading? To be honest, I'd probably be asleep if that blanket is just right.

Gee, Brandy..now where have I heard that before? *giggle*
I agree about Jennifer's books. I Always get a few laughs from her stories. Good Choice!

Thanks Robin! Glad you stopped by even though you're stuggling with the flu!
Ah, The Bible is a long choice!
I'm supposed to be starting the Old Testament with my group soon. Which is good because a lot of the New refers to the Old and I was lost in a lot of the allusions.
I've never heard of Colleen..another one to check out. My Favorite thing to do!

Good Morning, Tanya..
I've had White Hot staring me in the face now for 4 months, but can't drag myself to read it. Never read Sandra Brown before. Is she really good???

LOL, regarding the blanket, Jason.
You know what? I imagine you sneaking out of the igloo, snapping pictures and then writing eloquent poetry about them.
Gee, I wonder why? *grin*
I'm glad you appreciate my pics. Thanks!

1) Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein.

2) The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (nomme de plum of author Kevin Rigney). At least, I recommend it through Book Five. After that it's patently obvious that Jordan is padding the series. But those first five books are amazing.

(Aside: I think I may have violated your rules there.)

3) Yeager: An Autobiography. This is a great read, time and time again.

You know what's sad? I've read hundreds -- nay, thousands -- of books in my life, and these are the only ones I can think of off of the top of my head.

Weird.

Those are beautiful pictures, Michele :)

I can't pick just three so 'll go for series instead ;)

The Highlander books by Karen Marie Moning.

The Ryland brothers series by Kathryn Smith.

And the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas.

Wow, Avindair! You LIKED Star Ship Troopers and reading it makes you "warm"????? Granted, I've only seen the film and it was enough to chill me, not warm me.
Oh, don't worry about violating rules. Gotta have a place where you can let your hair down, ya know? I've heard the "Yeager" book was good. Guess it is.
Thanks!

Bonnie, oh I just LOVE your choices. Any book by KMM is awesome. Like I said, picking 3 for me was uber hard. I think I'll pop over to your igloo and we'll trade books, LOL!

Don't laugh at me, Annalee, but, for a moment, I thought you spelled coat wrong! LOL
Then I thought about what I wrote and went Aha!!!! Of course!! You like Dara too! **smacks hand to forehead**
Hey, I got the word.. shipping for her latest should be out in 2 weeks!! Woohoo!!!!

Michele, the movie Starship Troopers has almost nothing to do with the novel. I personally find the film repugnant.

Here's my recommendation: Pick up the book and read it; it'll take you an afternoon. It's worth the read.

I Tried a Book Out of My Comfort Zone

Sometimes, reading out of my comfort zone is ... well, uncomfortable. The blurb of the book sounded rather interesting. The Fate of Mercy ...
